September 2025 - Thank you to the Indy Star for covering this transormational partnership at the IDOC Miami Correctional Facility. Every Monday, the participants of the PLUS Program sew for up to five hours. The men enrolled in the PLUS program are happy to give back to the community via Book Pillows of Hope. Many of the PLUS Program participants say the day they get to sew book pillows is their favorite day.
Book Pillows of Hope volunteer, Pastor Laura Helm, who also teaches at the prison, recalled one of the inmates thanked her "for bringing a little bit of light into this horribly dark place." This service not only provides hope to the recipients, but also to the makers.
